A National Alliance for Play, Connection and Belonging

The National Playgroup Alliance unites organisations and allies to champion playgroups as a vital part of Australia’s early years system.

The Alliance brings together a wide range of partners, including national peak bodies, service providers, researchers, community organisations and advocates.

Together, we are working to strengthen the visibility, influence and impact of playgroups across the country. Alliance members share a commitment to inclusion, equity and better outcomes for families. Whether through policy, partnerships or community-led practice, we are united in our belief that playgroups are essential spaces for connection, learning and belonging in the early years.

Advocating for playgroups to be recognised within early childhood and family policy as vital community supports for families and children.

Working to improve access for all families—particularly those experiencing disadvantage—so that every child can benefit from play.

Building stronger links between playgroups and the broader early years system to create a more coordinated, family-centred approach.

Championing culturally safe, inclusive and locally responsive playgroup models underpinned by research and the lived experiences of families.

Our Members

The Alliance includes a growing network of national and community-led organisations who bring diverse expertise to the table. From playgroup providers to research institutions and family support services, our members work across sectors and systems to strengthen early childhood outcomes.

Membership is open to organisations that share our values and want to contribute to the national playgroup movement. If your work supports children, families or early learning, we’d love to hear from you.
